NCHRO Seminar on Nationalism and Its Implications PDF Print E-mail

altThe Seminar on “Nationalism and Its Implications” organized by NCHRO Karnataka Chapter, successfully completed. Held on November 19, at SCM House, Bangalore, the seminar opened with an inaugural speech by NCHRO National committee member Prof. Nagaragere Ramesh. NCHRO Karnataka Chapter president Adv. Balan presided over the program and NCHRO activist Ms. Selvi presented the welcome address. A key goal of the Seminar was to contribute in a substantial way to the study of the meaning of nationalism and its changing contours.


The highlight of the program was the lively scholarly seminar led by Shamsul Islam, Professor University of Delhi (Rtd).


Malkangiri & Bhopal Encounters, NCHRO Participated in the Public Meeting at Delhi University PDF Print E-mail

altNew Delhi, 16 Nov: NCHRO Participated in the Public Meeting at Delhi University condemning the Malkangiri and Bhopal encounters.

The programme was organized by Democratic Students Union (DSU) on "Politics of Extra- Judicial killings: Malkangiri and Bhopal".

Ujjawal Singh, Professor of Delhi University and Prof. Tanweer Fazal spoke  about politics of encounter.

Ansaar Indori, Convener of NCHRO Delhi chapter explained the fact finding of Bhopal encounter.

Dr. Harish Dhwan from PUDR delivered Speech on "Politics of Banning the Organizations and misuse of UAPA".

NCHRO Holds Human Rights Workshop in Bangalore PDF Print E-mail

altBangalore: - The NCHRO convened a two day Workshop on Human Rights which took place on August 6 & 7 in Indian Social Institute, Bangalore. The workshop covered a wide range of topics. The workshop demonstrates that there is a lot of interest in how to teach human rights in social work education.

The sessions addressed current and pressing human rights issues and involve in depth discussions on steps to moving forward to improve the current human rights situation in our country.


Agenda and Topics covered in the workshop as below:-

Welcome Address and Opening of the NCHRO Workshop on Human Rights – Mohammed Kakkinje, General Secretary, NCHRO – Karnataka Chapter.

Session I:  Documenting Human Rights Violation and the Illegal Practices of the Police against Citizens – Adv.B N Jagdish, Bangalore.

Session II:  Human Rights Situation in India and Need of Human Rights Activism - Adv. S Balan,  NCHRO Karnataka Chapter President and Senior Lawyer at Karnataka High Court.

Session III:  Media and Human Rights, Prof. Mahesh Chandra Guru, Professor of Journalism, Mysore University.

Session IV:  Effective use of RTI, Adv. Kashinath, Bangalore.

Session V:  FIR to Trial : Procedures and Documentation in Regular Penal & Draconian Laws, Adv. Ashraf Uppinangady.

Session VI: Fact Finding Modalities, Mohammed Kakkinje, General Secretary, NCHRO – Karnataka Chapter.

Session VII: How to be a Firm and Steadfast Defender of Human Rights, Mohamed Janib, National Co-ordinator, NCHRO.

Guest Talk  : Muhammad Saqib, State President, Popular Front of India, Karnataka Chapter.
