NCHRO Assam chapter conducted a Lawyers Meet on D' Voters issue at Barpetta on 7th May 2016.
NCHRO National Secretary Adv. A. Mohamed Yusuff, State Committee advisor Taizuddin Ahmed, Popular Front of India State General Secretary Abu Shama addressed the gathering.

D' Voters Legal aid committee State Convener Adv. A.R. Sikdar gave the orientation to the lawyers.
He narrated issues and  effective advocate on D' Voters cases before the Foreigners Tribunal (FT Court).

Barpetta district D' Voters Legal Aid Committee was formed in the meeting:-
Adviser: Taizuddin Ahmed,
Convener: Adv. Borhan Ali Ahmed,
Joint-Conveners: Adv. Julhas and Farhad.
It was decided to include the representatives of all sects in the district committee.

The Brutal Rape and Murder of Jisha shows that life for Poor women is as Savage as ever PDF Print E-mail

alt5th May 2016,Perumbavoor , Kerala :  Jisha, a law student who hailed from a poor family, was allegedly subjected to rape and brutal assault using sharp edged weapons before being murdered at her house in Perumbavoor on April 28. No formal arrest has been made yet in the crime that shocked the State.

NCHRO Team visited the ailing mother of the victim admitted to a hospital in Perumbavoor and said that the culprits should be brought to justice at the earliest. The law student’s lifeless body showed signs that she’d been strangled, tortured and sexually assaulted, before she died in the small, run down home she shared with her family in Perumbavoor, Kerala.
NCHRO demanded the rehabilitation of her mother and sister. The Team noted that whenever  a Dalit girls dies, Governments' role shrinked to mere announcement of Financial aid. Successive governments have failed to provide security for her family.
Oppression and inequality are disproportionately spread, according to income and caste.

NCHRO General Secretary and Secretary visited Prof S A R Gilani. PDF Print E-mail

altApril 10,  New Delhi :- Prof P Koya, the General Secretary and Mr Reny Ayline  the Secretary visited Prof S A R Gilani in New Delhi at his residence. Prof Gilani  arrested in a case of sedition, was released from Tihar jail  in March.

NCHRO demanded  Geelani's release while he was arrested and demanded that sedition charges should be dropped against him and he should be allowed to rejoin duty. It seems the  “colonial” sedition law under which he has been charged was being “misused to suppress dissent” and should be scrapped. “Supreme Court had clearly laid down the parameters of applicability of the sedition law and had held time and again that peaceful discussions and expression of views cannot attract charges of sedition.

altApril 30, 2016 Goa : Meeting of Sagar Dhara with the San Jose de Areal Locals along with Panch members,  Community Development members, Goa Carbon Officials & MLA-Benjamin Silva at Panchayat Hall was very effective.
NCHRO-GOA Secretary, Mr. Cyril Fernandez played a pivotal role in addressing the 'Pollution Issue' without hurting sentiments of everybody present. Mr. Dhara explained the consequences of air pollution emitted by Goa Carbon Factory in the long run &  how it can be effectively controlled by working in cooperation.The visit of Environmental Scientist, Mr. Sagar Dhara was a most fruitful one for everyone concerned.

altNew Delhi, 13 April 2016: NCHRO conducted a Two-day National level Human Rights workshop for activists at Delhi on 11 and 12 of April. NCHRO National Exco member Prof. Shamsul Islam (Delhi University) inaugurated the workshop.
The topics of the classes given were Human Rights: Theory and practice, Human rights situation in India and human rights activism, Human hights laws in India, Universal declaration of human rights and International human rights conventions, Judiciary and its structure - hierarchy and functioning, Procedures and need of documentation - from FIR to trial in human rights violations, How to use RTI for defending civil rights, Documentation of human rights violations and the illegal practices in the cases of draconian laws and  Fact finding modalities.
