Concern at the riots in Muzaffar Nagar

1.NCHRO notes with concern the recent communal carnage in Muzaffar Nagar and surrounding

areas in western UP. It is reported by several reputed human rights groups that there were political

motives behind the outbreak of riots in which hundreds of people were killed and thousands

injured or displaced.The victims mostly belonged to Muslim community.

Campaign against DRACONIAN LAW and UAPA held on 29th April 2013 in GOA .Program was organised by NCHRO.

 

Vice-Chairman of National Confederation of Human Rights Organisations (NCHRO) Adv. K.P. Mohammed Shareef and coordinator of NCHRO Adv. Saifan Shaikh was in Goa to speak about UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act).
Speaking to the gathering of Advocates, Doctors, Engineers, Professors and other Activists from Goa, Adv. Shareef said that Article 13 of the Constitution says: "No Law against Fundamental Right should be formed or implemented" . But new Laws,  like the UAPA, are being made defeating the very purpose for which our Constitution stands for. Under UAPA, just a doubt of an unlawful activity is enough for a Police Inspector to arrest a person without any permission or warrant from the court.

Mukundan C Menon award presented to Dr Udayakumar : NCHRO PDF Print E-mail

Kudamkulam: A delegation led by Mr Reny Ayline,the Secretary of National Confederation of Human Rights Organizations (NCHRO) presented the prestigious Mukundan C Menon Award 2012 to Dr S. P. Udayakuamar, the teacher-activist who leads the struggle against Koodankulam nuclear power project in Tamil Nadu.

The venue was packed with hundreds of people. NCHRO has been giving the award in memory of Mukundan C Menon, prominent human rights activist and founder General Secretary of the NCHRO.Mukundan C Menon, during his career was an active journalist fought against fascist communal groups and the victimization of weaker sections in the society

(SASCV) with the theme of Cultural Conflicts and Victimization of Groups on 12th Jan 2012 at Kanyakumari, India.


This paper puts forth various circumstances of death, disappearance and deprivation which have become burning national and international issue, especially in tribal areas and districts with minority concentration or provinces where sub national aspirations are strong.

Mukundan C Menon Award to SP Udayakumar PDF Print E-mail

Kozhikode: The Confederation of Human Rights Organisations (NCHRO) has announced the Mukundan C Menon Award for the year 2012. It goes to Dr.S.P.Udayakumar, the scholar activist who is leading the popular struggle against the atomic reactor complex in Koodankulam Tamilnadu. The annual award is given to people who render meritorious service to the field of human rights and environmental protection. it carries a cash award of Rs.25000 a citation and a plaque. the jury that selected Dr.Udayakumar consists of Prof.Nagari Babayya (Bangalore), Prof.R.Ramesh (Bangalore), N.P.Chekkutty (Calicut), J.Devika (Thiruvananthapuram) and Prof.A.Marx (Chennai).
Born in Nagerkoil, Tamilnadu Dr.Udayakumar (35) was educated in his hometown and Thiruvananthapuram and had his doctorate from University of Hawaii, Honolulu in political science. He has been teaching at various universities in India and abroad and has to his credit a number of academic works and reports focusing mainly on political and develpment issues.
Married to Meera, he has two sons Surya and Satya.
