BANGALORE: It’s been five months since Mohammad Mukarram Pasha fell prey to the Army bullet and justice awaits his bereaved family members. The agonising wait of the family members of 19-year-old Mukkaram is evident as they are diffident if they would get justice for the tragic loss. Mukarram was shot down by the sentries at the Flag staff house after he intruded into the residence of Brigadier P S Ravindranath, Commander, Karnataka and Kerala Sub Area on December 28, 2008. Two teams set up to probe Mukarram’s death are yet to ascertain if the sentries action to open fire on the drag racer is justified.  The Army which had ordered an inquiry after the incident is yet to make the report public.

Laski says “The citizen who lacks education is bound to be slave of others… He will go through life a stunted being whose impulses have never been ordered by reason into creative experiment.” It is considered as the only way for raising the status and for the progress of the society. In spite of the incorporation of right to education in the Indian constitution, universal primary education is still a distant cry even after many decades of independence. The disparity in the level of education between rural and urban areas is a not an uncommon phenomenon.

MammoottyNew Delhi, May 7, 2009: Renowned Malyalam actor Mammootty was intensely grilled at New York airport for being a Muslim. This is not the first time that a leading Indian actor was racially profiled in the US.  Karan Johar who is making a big budget film My Name Is Khan with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role faced similar problem when a Muslim actor was not allowed entry in the US over his Muslim name. Mammootty whose full name is Muhammad Kutty Ismail Paniparambil is an award winning Indian film actor and producer. During a career spanning more than quarter of a century, he has acted in more than 300 films as the lead actor in Malayalam movies, a distinction he shares with Prem Nazir.

Muslim Clerics and UHRO Condemn Displacement Of Sikhs In Pak PDF Print E-mail

Prominent Muslim organizations in India and the Universal Human Rights Organization (UHRO) have strongly condemned the move by the Pakistani Taliban to extort Jaziya (religious tax) from over 300 Pakistani Sikh families, who were forced to flee from that country's Buner district, reports say. Terming the move 'un-Islamic' and 'discrimination against the minority,' the UNRO stated that they would write to the United Nations Organization (UNO) that all the member-countries be asked to provide security to minority groups.
