NCHRO - Mukundan C Menon Award 2016, Handed Out - Dr.Suresh Khairnar presented with Award by Kuldip Nayar.

New Delhi : NCHRO instituted Mukundan C Menon Award– which honours outstanding civil society action in defence of human rights – has been awarded to Dr.Suresh Khairnar.
The award was presented by Kuldip Nayar, veteran journalist, author, diplomat, parliamentarian and human rights activist. The event was held on Saturday, 4th February 2017, at the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi.
The event evening started with a welcome from NCHRO National Secretary Adv. A. Mohamed Yusuff, delighted to welcome Dr. Manisha Sethi of JTSA, EM Abdul Rahiman - Chairman of Empower India Foundation, S.A.R. Geelani - President of CRPP , Prof. G Saibaba and Prof. P. Koya - General Secretary of NCHRO etc . Mr. Ansar Indori was the Programme Convener.
The event remembered that this year would have marked the 11th anniversary of Mukundan C Menon. He is not with us anymore, but his legacy is more relevant than ever, through his writing and his human rights activity, Mukundan C Menon forewarned about the danger of hatred and prejudice, and the importance of tolerance, co-existence, and respect for human rights and the rule of law.
Each year NCHRO proud to acknowledge the outstanding contribution of individuals and organisations in promoting and protecting human rights and freedoms. The Mukundan C Menon award includes a plaque, the citation and a cash prize of Rs. 25,000/-. An expert panel selects the recipient based on their dedication and accomplishments toward human rights and social justice.

We support, educate, train and honor people who of with individual moral courage to overcome injustice, stand up to oppression in the non-violent pursuit of human rights.
