altTo mark the  International Human Rights Day, NCHRO Kerala Chapter  held a Seminar at  Jawahar auditorium, Kannur on Saturday, December 10th, at 4:00pm.
The seminar began by NCHRO Exco Member Sharafudheen MK delivering the welcome speech. The event was chaired by Vilayodi Shivankutty, NCHRO Kerala Chapter President.
Prof K. Y. Ratnam, Dept of Political Science, University of Hyderabad, delivered the keynote address.  He emphasized that the narrow political and state interests have been undermining rule of law and human rights. Police forces maintain unpopular state power that is the regime poilicing , we really need standards and principles of democratic policing , he added.
The other speakers included :-
A Vasu,  Dr. S. Maya, Asst. Professor, Dept of Philosophy, Keralavarma College,    Rupeshkumar, Documentary film maker,  KK Baburaj  (Writer &Activist), K.M. Venugopal (Writer &Activist), Sunil Kumar, Editor Maktab daily etc.
NCHRO office bearers Reny Ayline,National Secratary and  TK Abdussamad, Kerala Chapter General Secretary were also present.
The aim  of the seminar was the promotion of human rights principles in our public debates and decision-making processes and a culture of peace & social justice through education.
