Kanyakumari (TN): After 4 years of legal struggle of NCHRO finally Government had announced and Rajendra Ratnoo, District Collector of Kanyakumari offered a relief package of one lac rupees to the wife of the deceased who was lynched to death in police custody.
In 2005,Mohamed Masood, a Muslim youth of Kadayanallur has been detained at Keeripparai Police station for enquiry. He was made to hang upside down using a pulley used to get water from the well . Police officials including three District Superintendent of Police Pratap singh, Chandra paul and Easwaran tortured brutally and lynched the man to death by inserting a hot iron rod into the mohamed masood's anus in the name of enquiry at Keeripparai police station.
NCHRO is conducting this case for about 4 years in Tenkasi court and Madurai High court . An advocates team headed by Advocate Jinna had also met Home secretary of Tamilnadu and the Director General of Police Tamilnadu several times and appealed the government to pay compensation and relief to the family of the victim.
Many protest demonstrations has also been conducted by NCHRO headed by state president Advocate Bavani. Pa. Mohan and Advocate Mohamed yusuff.
Due to this prolonged tireless efforts Tamilnadu Government ordered the district collector of Kanyakumari on February 11,2011 to pay relief package comprising rupees one lac from its Chief ministers relief fund.
So in the presence of Sardar Arafath, NCHRO organiser of Nellai west , Syed Ali, NCHRO activist and state executive council member today on March 7,2011 collector offered a cheque for rupees one lac to Hasanamma, the wife of the deceased.
We will continue our struggle and will continue to conduct the criminal cases against DSP's Pratap Singh,Chandra paul, Easwaran and other culprits responsible for torturing and lynching Mohamed masood in police custody, Fight for justice will continue until the real culprits were brought to justice and punished, said Syed Ali, State executive council of NCHRO in an interview with the media person.
