Veteran Journalist & Activist O.Abdulla recognized with the 2017 Mukundan C Menon Award.
The award instituted by the National Confederation of Human Rights Organisations (NCHRO) on behalf of the prominent human rights activist Mukundan C Menon was presented to senior journalist O Abdulla. The selection of winner was made by eminent people from various walks of life, including Prof. A Marx, J Devika, Civic Chandran, Adv. KP Mohammed Shareef, Reni Aylin, Adv Bhavani Mohan etc. The award comprises Rs 25,000 and a citation.
Over the decades, O Abdulla has been dedicating him all to sounding the voice of those on the weaker side of our society, has boldly and relentlessly pursued the cause of free speech, in-depth articles in various news papers , interviews on media outlets, opinion pieces, He was praised for the ‘defense of human rights values’ in his work.
The award was presented by writer Kalpetta Narayanan at the KP Kesava Menon Hall, Kozhikode. NCHRO General Secretary Prof P Koya presided over the award ceremony. Popular Front of India Chairman E Aboobacker, NCHRO State President Vilayodi Sivankutty, Thejas Daily-Chief Editor NP Chekutty, Noted Writer P.K. Parakkadavu, A Vasu, KPO Rahmatullah, MK Sharafuddin etc also spoke.
