Conference on human rights and environment to be held in Iran

Iran is scheduled to hold its first International Conference on Human Rights and Environment at Tehran’s Shahid Beheshti University. Organized by the UNESCO Chair for Human Rights, Peace and Democracy of Shahid Beheshti University, the conference will discuss national and international experiences, mechanisms and approaches concerning human rights, democracy and the environment.

Researchers and scholar from the US, the UK, Pakistan, India, China, Switzerland, Norway, Argentina, Kenya, Iran, Australia, Lebanon, Senegal and France will attend the event on May 13 and 14, 2009.

Experts from The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), The United Nations Commission on Human Rights (UNCHR), The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and a number of Iranian and international non-governmental organizations will also participate in the conference.
